Recovery Housing and The Basics of Suicide Prevention
Trainer: Austin Lucas, Program Director, Ohio Suicide Prevention Foundation
Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) is an evidence-based suicide prevention gatekeeper training that teaches community members basic skills of how to have a conversation with someone who might be experiencing suicidal ideation. Just like CPR for cardiac arrest, QPR provides life stabilizing steps to keep someone alive during a mental health and suicidal crisis until a connection is made with a mental health provider. By the end of the training, QPR participants will learn suicide statistics and trends, warning signs, how to ask the suicide question, how to persuade someone to not take their own life, and how to refer someone to the appropriate mental health resources.
1. Recovery Home operators will understand the warning signs and risk factors of suicide
2. How to have a conversation with someone who may be suicidal
3. How to appropriately refer a person to behavioral health care services and professionals
Please note, there are a limited number of registration spots available for this training. If you register and are unable to attend, please cancel your registration so as to offer the spot to another attendee.
